Here's some simple DIY for your GTB(F)RZ-(S)86
Pioneer Stereo Settings
With the stereo turned off, push and hold the volume nob and a menu comes up. First thing to do is change the car setting to FR-S (most are set to TC). A lot of people report better sound after this settings change.
To get a custom intro like the pic above, select 'Opening' from the menu and input with the volume nob. It's pretty simple.
BRZs with Navigation can also load a custom intro screen.
Custom Shift Light
On the trip computer you can set a custom shift light. With the car on and stopped, press DISP until you see rev. —00. Hold the DISP button to begin setting the thousand, press it again to move to the hundred and hold it again to set it. Once the rpm is set it will ask if you want the beep enabled. Hold to toggle, press to finish. Mine is set to 5500rpm. The light stays on above 5500 and starts to flash around the redline.

I want to add that if you hit the ODO button a few times with ignition on, engine off you can turn on the gear indicator (G on).

Sound Tube Mute

Go down in to your passenger side foot well (LHD, driver side if RHD) and pull back the carpet. There should be a small round black plastic piece that is the end of the 'sound tube' that pipes intake sound in to the cabin. Get a 19mm chair leg cap from a hardware store, or steal the cap from the power outlet in the glovebox like the image above, and stick it on the end of the sound tube to plug the hole. It should give you a purer engine sound. Most seem to like it that way.
Odds and Ends
FT86Club.com has a great DIY section. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Taking bumpers, lights or interior parts out? Installing a sway bar? Fuel pump, fog lamps? Instruction inside! If it can be done in the driveway it's in there, and then some.
If you're gonna use a USB drive for your music, get one that isn't orange, doesn't stick way out and have a flashing red light on it.
Oh, and if you were wondering what those divets behind the seats were for:

Reverse GIS tells me that's from Arrested Development, something I've not seen, so... Woosh. Sorry. I hear it's good.
It's Mr.Forgetful, the kids book character, my avatar. Mr.F for short.
